As a first-generation college student, navigating the college application process was incredibly overwhelming. Without external support or resources, I often felt lost. Initially I was very concerned about where to even start for college with all the schools. I felt extremely disorganized with the sheer amount of it all. However thanks to my counselor Katheryn, she was able to provide me with a way to organize everything I needed and helped me get my thoughts and words across my essays. My college counselor has been amazing. She’s smart, very resourceful (so even if she doesn’t know something, she will learn) and has experience. Every session was highly personalized to my needs. She’s always quick to respond and makes sure I stay on track. What I really appreciate is that she didn’t do the work for me, but helped me realize my potential so I could do it myself. In addition to my parents, she was also my support system. She constantly checks in, kept me on track, and is always there when I need her. OMG Katheryn is seriously the BEST college consultant ever!!! She stuck with me all the way from sophomore to senior year and totally saved me from freaking out during application season. Absolutely such a help! I’m an only child and the first person in my family to head off to college and I really needed the support. I had no idea how to fill out the applications or when the deadlines were for each school. Keeping track of everything was my biggest worry.
